Over the past several years, Max Liberatori has developed a series of oil paintings on burlap, chosen for its raw, organic texture and its ability to absorb and respond to paint in unpredictable ways. The resulting works are earthy, atmospheric, and richly tactile. Rather than adhering to a fixed narrative, the series unfolds through loosely connected visual impressions—intuitive explorations inspired by a broad range of references, from mysticism to speculative landscapes. Each painting stands as a singular vision, yet collectively they evoke a liminal space where figuration and abstraction intersect. This body of work is well-suited for exhibition as a cohesive yet open-ended exploration of material, memory, and the imagination.
